Maneka Gandhi has faced the third defeat in her political life. Her stature in the BJP was already declining. On top of that, the political rehabilitation of her son is a challenge for her. In such a situation, can she find a new political path apart from the BJP or will she wait?
This question is being discussed a lot in Sultanpur. However, political analysts believe that due to lack of a good option, she may wait for a change in the attitude of BJP for the time being.
Maneka Gandhi started her political career in 1982 itself after the death of Sanjay Gandhi.
She had also contested elections in many places by forming Sanjay Vichar Manch, but when she lost her first election from Amethi in 1984, she felt the need for a strong political platform. Therefore, she met the then Janata Party president and former Prime Minister Chandrashekhar and her organization merged with Janata Dal in Amethi itself.
Meanwhile, when Janata Dal was formed, she joined Janata Dal along with Chandrashekhar and contested and won the election from Pilibhit in 1989. She lost the election from Pilibhit in the Ram wave of 1991. After that, she contested the election from Pilibhit as an independent in 1996, 1998, 1999, in which she kept getting support from non-Congress parties and BJP.
